Preparatory Work Prior to Bearing Installation. Preparations Before Bearing Installation 1. Installation should, where possible, be carried out in a dry, dust-free indoor environment, away from metalworking machinery or other equipment that generates metal shavings and dust. Only open the bearing’s anti-rust packaging once all preparations are complete. 2. The anti-rust oil applied to the bearings possesses certain lubricating properties. For general-purpose bearings, it is not necessary to clean them before use. However, for instrument bearings or high-speed bearings, the original anti-rust oil should be thoroughly cleaned off before applying a suitable lubricant. Bearings fitted with seals or dust covers and pre-filled with grease may be used directly. 3. Tools used for installation should primarily be made of wood or light-weight metal, and must be kept clean. II. Inspection of the Shaft and Housing 1. Clean the shaft and housing to ensure there are no scratches or burrs left from machining; if present, remove them using an oilstone or fine sandpaper. The interior of the housing must be completely free of abrasive agents (such as SiC or Al₂O₃), moulding sand, metal shavings, etc. 2. Check that the dimensions, shape and machining quality of the shaft and housing conform to the drawings. Measure the shaft diameter and housing bore diameter at several points. |
